Two condos closed for multimillion-dollar prices in the St. Regis, the new 95-story tower in Lakeshore East.
A four-bedroom, four-bathroom condo of 5,734 square feet on the 75th floor sold for nearly $8.42 million, according to data from the Multiple Listing Service.
Additionally, a 5,133-square-foot unit with four bedrooms and five bathrooms on the 67th floor sold for just over $7 million, MLS data show.
Those sales mean six units in the 393-unit tower have sold for more than $6 million. A suburban couple paid $6.7 million for a condo in the building in July.
The high-priced condo sales at the St. Regis come days after three units in the Tribune Tower sold for more than $4 million. One of the units sold for almost $8.1 million.
Leila Zammatta of Magellan Development Group, representing the St. Regis, formerly known as the Vista, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Asking prices range from $840,000 to $18.5 million, according to the St. Regis website. Designed by architect Jeanne Gang’s firm, Studio Gang, the tower’s amenities include an outdoor pool, fitness center, conference center, screening room and children’s activity room.
The number of local home sales of $4 million or more has hit 63 so far in 2021, according to Crain’s data. In an average year, the 50th property over $4 million usually doesn’t sell until the end of the year. This year, more than 50 $4 million homes were sold by the end of the summer. If the market keeps up its current pace, 2021’s sales will surpass 2018’s, when 73 homes sold at $4 million or more.
Six of the top 10 local sales in 2021 are downtown condos, and nine of the top 10 are in the city, Crain’s data shows. The one outside Chicago was a $7.7 million mansion in west suburban Hinsdale.
