Katherine Davis joins Crain’s Chicago Business today as a reporter covering breaking news as well as tech startups, venture capital and the entrepreneurial scene.

Davis comes to Crain’s from The Chicago Business Journal/Chicago Inno, where she had been a reporter and associate editor since August 2017.

At Chicago Inno, Davis contributed weekly to WGN Chicago Radio, both as a guest on the “Wintrust Business Lunch” and as the host of the “Inno Minute.” She also managed Chicago Inno’s social media platforms and regularly planned and organized programming for events.

Davis has experience covering the health care industry, having reported for Cardiovascular Business prior to Chicago Inno and having done two internships at Modern Healthcare while she was a student at Columbia College.

Davis is returning to Crain’s after having served as a research intern while she was still a student at Columbia College, where she graduated in 2015. Crain’s hired her again for a six-month reporting fellowship in 2016.

“We’re delighted to welcome Katherine back to our newsroom,” said Crain’s Editor Ann Dwyer. “In her time at Chicago Inno, she developed the kind of beat-reporting experience that made her an important player on the tech startup beat, and we’re hoping that she and our veteran tech reporter, John Pletz, will team up to provide even more muscular coverage of this key industry for our readers.”

Katherine is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Chicago Headline Club.
