A Griffith Public Schools official has been named by the Merrillville School Board to replace long-time chief financial officer Hilda Damianick who retired June 30.

Last month, the school board appointed Meghan Damron, the director of business services and human resources at Griffith.

Damron will oversee financial operations including budgets, capital plans, purchasing, human resources, facility use and board relations. She will supervise the accounting, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, transportation, food services and building and grounds departments.

Damron is certified as a chief business officer and also in human resources by the Indiana Association of School Business Officials. She has a master of business administration from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Southwest Missouri State University.

Damianick served the district for 14 years, coming from the Lake Ridge Schools where she worked her way up from a technology assistant to business manager.
