New lifestyle hotel opens on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile – Travel Weekly

Panama-based lifestyle hotel company Selina opened a property in Chicago on Sept. 20, its sixth hotel in the U.S.

The Selina Chicago, located in the Magnificent Mile district, encompasses 16 floors and 600 beds; as with other Selina hotels, the Chicago property offers hostel-style dormitory accommodations as well as private rooms. Amenities include a communal kitchen, library, co-working space, restaurant and fitness center. There is also a cafe that will host live performances in the evenings.

Rooms at the Selina Chicago start at $110 per night for a private room and $40 for a bed in a community room.

“Opening in Chicago marks a major milestone for Selina as we continue to grow our brand globally,” CEO and co-founder Rafael Museri said in a statement. “We are looking forward to sharing our experiential lifestyle and Latin roots with major U.S. cities like Chicago and our planned location in Washington D.C.” (Selina has announced plans to open a 372-bed property in the nation’s capital by year’s end.)

Selina, founded in 2015, targets millennial and Gen Z guests, with co-working, recreation, wellness and local experiences built into the programming and amenities at each location. The company also offers a subscription model that enables customers to stay at multiple Selina properties over a fixed amount of time at a discounted rate.
